I didn’t even know what the “official” name of a demijohn was, I just called them pretty bottles with wicker or something unofficial like that. Anyway, last fall when cleaning out mom’s house, I found a really interesting bottle that turned out to be a demijohn. Lo and behold, I started seeing these all over the internet and especially on one of my favorite blogs – No Minimalist Here written by the very talented Sherry. Recently, she hosted a giveaway of one of her demijohns and I won! She sent it out to me and I couldn’t be more excited.
She also included the sweetest little No. 2 tag along with a soft and squishy pumpkin and pear for a little fall decorating
Here are some of Sherry’s demijohns she collects and displays in her home:
And here’s the one she sent me, sitting proudly on top of my refrigerator with the one from my mom’s house:
I think this might have started a new obsession with demijohns!

This is beautiful!! Congratulations on your win.
I'm so glad you posted about it. I have one of these but never knew what it was called. I was like you, I just always called it a "pretty bottle encased in wicker"~ haha! Now I know.
Have a great day,
Kathleen
I love the character that they add! Congrats!!
Congrats on your win. These make great pieces to decorate with.

Oh congratulations. Your demijohns are both wonderful. Love that #2 she added also. I just found one at GW and almost fainted, I know they are so hard to find and so expensive. I am thrilled for you. Now you have the start of a whole new collection. Are you having any problems with blogger. When I click on dashboard, all of the current posts that normally show up is just a blank spot. I can't tell if anyone has posted anything new or not. Frustrating. Hugs, Marty
So pretty! I never knew what these were called, so thank you for the lesson. Now I need to look it up and find out the origin of such a weird name.
Congratulations on your win! No Minimalist Here is one of my new favorite blogs also! I think it was Sherry's blog that I first saw the official name of Demijohn. I have had several for years and just started adding to my collection again. Glad to know what they are really called. I used the wine bottle covered in wicker also.
Hope to see you again soon.
Joyfully,
Elizabeth Ann
Hi Judy,
I am so happy that you love the Demijohn! It looks great with your other one. Congrats on your win and thanks for the mention and link.
