I have this hutch that used to hang in my mom’s house. I want to use it my den above my sideboard to put white plates mixed with some silver pieces. Here’s where I want to hang it…..
I don’t know why I never can capture the true wall color….here it looks gray-ish and it’s a true khaki
Here’s what it looks like:
I’m removing the dowel rod since that screams “country” to me!
Would you paint it black or white? Opinions please!!!

Judy, if it were me I would do black since the piece below it is dark and you're putting white plates on it. It would really "POP" : )
Hope I helped ~

I think black if you are going to put your white plates and silver on it, Judy. I think the plates might "disappear" against it if it were white.
I agree. I vote for black, for the contrast with the white plates and silver.
Judy I vote for painting it black, especially if your going to place white plates on it. The white and silver will really pop!
black.
I'm with everyone else, BLACK.
Like everyone else I also was thinking black, especially to show off white plates
Ohhhhh what a wonderful plate rack! It will look great hanging above that piece too! I vote for black....it will look stunning with ironstone and silver pieces displayed on it :o)

Black will look great!
Black...of course! It would make your white plates POP!
Black would look really pretty since you have so much around your house. i would use a fine steel wool around the edges to distress it some. i did this to my hutch and my cream ware really looks bright in it.
Guess it's unanimous -- black! Can't wait to see it in its new home.
I think black is the best choice. The mix of white and silver will be so pretty against black. White seems a like it might be a little too light or 'floaty' above the heavier dark piece.
