Black & White

I love black and white...it's so classy, sophisticated and timeless. Saturday while we were cleaning out our storage building, I came across some old plates I'd picked up at yard sales, thrift stores, Goodwill. I love their shapes and patinas. Christy at Bon Bon Boutique had used a rub on from Wal Mart to monnogram a plate she had and that inspired me. Actually, I get a lot of inspiration from ya'll! I recently bought a bird's nest stamp and fleur de lis stamp at Hobby Lobby (1/2 off natch!) and used the fleur de lis stamp on the plate.

This is how the plate looked before.....

...and this is how it turned out!

The ink I used was for glass so I will "bake" the plate so the stamp won't come off. Pretty nifty, huh?

This is a photo of a classic white urn with an old rusty candelier sprayed white...I'm drooling just looking at it. I found the picture in one of my decorating books called "Flea Market Finds, Before & After, Home Decorating With Makeover Miracles"....which of course, means that NOW I must have one of the urn/candle things!

Hey, Judy, I saw that on Christy's site too. Will have to look for those transfers at my Wally world. It's a great look, as is that nifty urn & candelabra. Cute!
Glad your blog is back to normal for you!

I love it!!! Turned out really good. I haven't tried the stamp effect yet but that's my next thing to try. I have so many extra plates lying around that I need to make something.

Oh what fabulous ideas. I am drooling over the urn as well. I am going to have to find a way to do this. Love love love the transfer idea. Another creative thing I must try. I am with you on the roosters. My whole kitchen was French country (red yellow and green) filled with roosters and toile. I needed a gentle look and "retired" several myself. They have been replaced with song birds and nests. Not all but most. I am trying to find the right place for the new on with out going backwards. Thanks for the visit.
