Sweet Savannah–Part 1

They say there are places that are “heaven on earth” and I believe Savannah is one of them.     Our hotel was located in the heart of the historic district and we had a bird’s eye view of the river.     If you plan a trip to Savannah, I highly recommend the Hampton Inn on East Bay Street….ask for a room on the 6th floor because the view is fantastic!

Our room was so nice.    The bed looks lumpy but it was a down filled duvet.     Looked like whoever decorated the rooms envisioned a Pottery Barn feel

Loved this sconce….I’ve seen one similar in the PB catalog.

Standing on the corner outside our hotel looking down the street.    The weather was perfect!

My first stop was The Paris Market…I know many of ya’ll have been there so it needs no introduction….just lots of ohhing and ahhing….(warning….picture overload ahead!!)

I’m going to let the pictures do the talking...

That pretty much wrapped up our first day as we arrived late in the afternoon and were tired from the drive and all the walking.    I’ll share more pictures later this week, which includes Uncle Bubba’s, Tybee Island Social Club and No. 411.       Hope you will come back and virtually tour Savannah with me.

Savannah Here We Come!

We're off to Savannah and Charleston Friday morning...be gone a week!

Monday morning the twins had to go to the dentist....when we got there they wanted their picture taken. Taylor went and stood behind Jackson - are they little "hams" or what?

Charleston, Savannah and St. Simon's Island

Hubby and I are going on a little vacation next month (February). I know it's not the ideal time weather-wise to visit beautiful places like Charleston, Savannah and St. Simon's Island, but with his work, that is when we must go. We usually fly or cruise to someplace warm, but this year I agreed to a "trade off" of a "big" vacation to get hardwood floors in my den and dining room. I love the look of hardwood floors with big, beautiful oriental rugs on them or the more casual sisal rugs, and he's agreed that now is the time! We were going to Cabo San Lucas but he "made me an offer I couldn't refuse" with the hardwood floor suggestion. I agreed but I told him he has to take me to the beach this summer (we haven't been since the devastating hurricanes of two years ago). He and I will go this Spring and later I am going on two "girl's" beach trips.

My mom and I went to Savannah about 8 years ago - one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen. I've never been to Charleston or St. Simon's - places I've always wanted to visit.

I am asking for any suggestions for places to stay, places to eat, special things to do in those cities, etc. I know we will eat at Paula Deen's in Savannah. We would like to stay at a B&B in either Savannah or Charleston - any suggestions?

I know that a lot of ya'll have been to these wonderful areas of the south and I would love to hear any ideas you can give me for our trip.

Thanks bunches!
