Jalapeno Pinwheels and Class Reunions

I recently attended my class reunion and although it was catered, some of the "girls" brought snacks and appetizers to munch on until our main meal was served.   One of my high school friends brought these pinwheels and although I missed out on trying them (too busy socializing!) my husband loved them.   So I asked my friend for her recipe and I'm sharing it with ya'll today.

JALAPENO PINWHEELS

  • 1 8 OZ. pkg. creme cheese
  • 1 container of chive and onion creme cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour creme
  • 12-16 oz. shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped jalapenos
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 pkg. flour tortillas
Mix all until well blended.   Spread filling over tortillas.  Roll up and cover in plastic wrap for several hours (or overnight).  Cut into pinwheels.   (The end of the rolls won't have filling in them, but put them aside and watch how fast they go!)

DISCLAIMER:   Since I haven't made these I don't know how many hours to cover them....I'd say at least 4-6 and would probably be best if left covered overnight.   She also didn't say to refrigerate while covered but I would think so.   I copied the recipe as it was provided to me.

I plan on making these soon as my husband raved over them....of course he loves anything with jalapeno's!

Here's a picture of our "class" someone sent me.   I went to a small private school and we only had about 26 graduating seniors....two of which are deceased.

(I'm on the end wearing black top and white jeans...my friend that I worked with on the reunion is also in black and white...not planned!)

My good friend and I worked on the reunion for about a year and were able to contact all of our remaining classmates but some were unable to attend.   We combined our class with the ones above and below us so we had a pretty nice turn out.

We had a great time and it was great connecting with some people I haven't seen in a looooooong time!   I really enjoyed meeting some of the spouses of the guys in my class.....even the wife of my high school "crush"!    Several people were really unrecognizable (not necessarily in a bad way) so it's a good thing we had name badges!    One of the men, a local dentist, was such a quiet unassuming guy in school....and man has he changed!   He and his wife were a lot of fun.....he's also my daughter's dentist.   My best friend from high school was unable to attend but we have reconnected and hope to have a visit soon.

Have you ever attended your class reunion?   If you haven't and ever get a chance, I would recommend going....I had a great time at mine!

  1. That is such a great picture of you with your former classmates! My class was very large so I've lost touch with a lot of them over the years. Facebook has been the best way to keep in touch and see pics of everyone! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

  4. My husband loves jalapenos too, so I'll save this for him. I'm actually going to attend a church "youth" group reunion this weekend which is much more fun than my school reunions. I say "youth" because that doesn't really describe us any more! We're actually going to sing in our old church that Sunday morning!

Looks like you had a great time!
