I'm not talking about the real thing (although I DO love a creamy strand of pearls and matching earrings) but the group of ladies who are called "The Pearls" at my mom's church. The Pearls are a group of prissy "older" ladies who meet for special occasions, headed up by the talented Ms. Betty. You are supposed to be 65 years old to be a Pearl but don't let their age fool you....these ladies are true Steel Magnolias. They love to dress up and visit and boy, can they get fiesty!
Saturday was their annual Valentine's Day luncheon and my sister and I were honored to be invited to tag along by our mom.
My almost 91-year old mom, my sister and me
I'll be back later this week with another good WW dessert recipe. I think if we are going to be able to share our recipes I'll have to host a linky party which will mean I'll have to pay for that service. I'm going to be looking into that and see what all is involved in that.
Now I'm off to (shamelessly) watch The Bachelor....
I'm there...watchin'it...what's that Brad doing now?? Pearls are so classic...I love to wear them. Your are exceptionally beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your blog! I don't do the Bachelor but I do watch other reality TV.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog post about the Pearls!

Coming by to wish you a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY...looks like your time with your mom and sis was a lot of fun. Thanks again for that cake recipe...we finished it off today...I mom loved it too...so was so surprise to find out it was low-fat.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
I love the idea of "The Pearls". It's very elegant and southern.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter plays the harp and is part of an ensemble that plays together for different charities and concerts and they are called "String of Pearls". All the young ladies dress in white when they do these concerts and look and sound heavenly.
What a great group of ladies! I am sure they could tell some stories too!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the Weight Watchers. I've done their points program and it really works. Need to be doing it now. Perhaps your recipes will inspire me. I'm new to your site. I just started blogging over a month ago. I'm a southern gal myself-love to cook and love to eat! Love you black and white damask background on your blog. I was thinking of doing the same but went with a different color. http://cottageatthecrossroads.com
ReplyDeleteI love pearls. My husband gave me a strand when we got married. I keep a diary about where my pearls have been worn. Maybe I should do my own pearl post!
