Beautiful Beaches, No Oil In Sight!

Just a quick post from the beautiful beaches of Alabama.    As you can see, we saw  no oil coming on shore.

Many locals have told us they feel that the media is making the story much worse than it is.    Don’t get me wrong, the oil slick/spill is a HUGE problem but we’ve been here two days and as you can see  in my pics, there is no oil on the shore nor any “tar balls” either.     One business is advertising to pay $10 for each tar ball!

If you are planning a trip to the beautiful beaches of Alabama, I’d encourage you to “come on down”.    Of course, you certainly want to follow the news about the oil slick but I don’t think you’ll have any problem with oil on the beaches.

Today we shopped and went sight-seeing.    I won’t even mention how a certain someone got us lost and refused to ask for directions.     Can you guess who I’m talking about?  (hint:   it’s not moi!)

Tomorrow we’ll spend most of the day on the beach and then tomorrow night we’re going to the Wharf and Guy Harvey’s!

I hope that they are able to get that oil contained as the images on the news is not good.

Enjoy your time at the beach!

  4. I am so glad you posted this. We have a trip to Panama City planned the end of July and have rented a beach house and we have been very concerned...this is such a relief to us. I know they still need to stop the leak, but just knowing that you have not seen anything gives me peace of mind. Thank you!

  5. Glad that you aren't seeing any of the oil spill and even though it is a HUGE problem I hope that doesn't change people's mind about going down there. We keep talking about going but need to get that GA house sold.

  7. Thank goodness for no tar balls on the beach!!! It breaks my heart that the businesses in that area could suffer financially from this big mess. Enjoy your vacay!

  10. Dear Judy,

I just found your lovely Blog.
Thank you for posting about the update on the oil spill down there.
I live in Georgia and they are talking about it possibly spreading up the East coast as well. I am praying for all concerned that this will be handled very soon!!

Be well and have a great time at the beach with your family.

    Hugs and Smiles,

    Susan

  12. Thank you Lord! No oil here on our gorgeous beaches either!

I worried just a bit about the oil coming here especially since we were having a beach wedding. Now THAT could have been a bad situation. But...it was mah-ve-lous.

Stop by...the wedding photos are posted. Oh.My.Gosh! Pure magic!

    Hugs!
